Sea Turtles
Sea turtles are large marine reptiles that mainly live in the ocean! Unlike most turtles, they have flippers instead of legs, which is suitable for them given the amount of time they spend under water. They’re capable of holding their breaths for multiple hours at a time!
Sea turtles have existed for over 100 million years, and there are 7 species still alive today:
- Green Sea Turtle
- Loggerhead
- Hawksbill
- Leatherback
- Olive Ridley
- Kemp’s Ridley
- Flatback
Sea turtle diets vary based on species:
- Green sea turtles like to eat seagrass and algae
- Leatherbacks like to eat jellyfish.
- Loggerheads like to eat crabs and shellfish
- Hawksbills like to eat sponges
